Vvrock'uvin
Both beautiful and grotesque, there is no better description for Vvrock'uvin than the name of
Che'el D'Vreg'nth Ssrigg'tul. The City of Wicked Pleasure is a glorious testament to the strength and power of the drow race.
The sheer size of the city is enough to send chills through any surface dweller's blood.
Vvrok'uvin is built in a large matrix of basalt caverns deep underneath Moonlit Isle, and as such many of the
caves are partially aquatic, partially dry. The tides and warm undercurrents of the ocean create a weather
system within the caverns, very much like the surface: humid and hot during the summer and cold and chilly in the winter.
Within the caves, it has even been known to rain.
The extreme wealth the city has amassed over the years has left the drow spoiled and bored, and in desperate search
for the next shock to the society. Sex, drugs, slaves, body mutilations, even death even can be purchased on every corner
of the city. ANYTHING can be acquired, as long as you have something someone else wants.
A city this size has a number of location of note:
Ziggurat with City Square.
Battle Arena
Time Tower
Main Gardens
City Water System including the Main Channel
Bathhouses
Club District
Market Cavern
Lower City including the City Waste Disposal and Steamworks: As far as cities go, Vvrock'uvin has actually made advancements
like no other society. Beneath the city itself is a second city, one ruled by a ruthless woman known as Ilraedra Vayas Torervstyl,
The Mistress of the Lower City, Overseer of the Stomach and Bowels of Vvrock'uvin. Some refer to her as L'Mem Valshares. The Belly's Queen.
The Dro'ujool: The eastern side of the city is what once was a wide open mouth that connected the large cavern system to the ocean.
Early settlers of Vvrock'uvin cast a powerful spell, sacrificing hundreds of lives to Lolth in the creation of a wall of clear
crystal-steel strong enough to hold back the ocean. The Dro'ujool. Formed over the mouth of the cave and lined with an ancient language,
the Dro'ujool is a daily reminder of the power of Lolth and the life that she grants when it is her favor. Through the crystal wall,
the ocean looms. Fish, jellyfish and whales swim by occasionally, casting their muted shadows across the protected city.
Even with the Dro'ujool, there are still large numbers of surface sympathizers that live within the city. Hunted, but still growing
in numbers. These followers of the Gods of Light constantly fight for freedom from their dark matriarchs.
Social Structure: Social Structure is everything to the drow race. It is how a city the size of Vvrock'uvin operates. A drow's title
and linage is often presented in length whenever they meet one another. And it is important to address one another by the most formal
means possible until given approval to be more casual. That might mean using the same lengthy name over and over again, many a drow
delight in torturing a servant for a misspoken syllable.
Influence in the city is broken down into houses, and the number that a house represents is like a badge of honor. The First House
is the most important house to live in. And it is granted to the house with the most wealth and power within the city. The First
House rules the city, sets the laws, and has the power to take almost anything its Matron desires. Currently the First House is House
N'Dar, Lead by Ilharess Laveth and her two daughters, Ust Qu'essan Zebekyah and Qu'essan Triss.
The drow by nature are Matriarchal, with priestesses of Lolth in the highest seat of power. Females of the drow race are ruthless
in their timeless quest to remain in control. Everything that they do ensues that Lolth's will keeps within the favor of the females,
and males have no chance to usurp them.
